Roleplay is basically like writing a story or a script only you do it with other members on the board. You may roleplay an original character from the movie or make up one of your own. When roleplaying here, you may only post as the character(s) you have selected to play. You cannot post actions or dialog for someone else's character. That is called "power-playing", which is not as fun to work with in my opinion. When you are posting with other people and letting them do what they want, it makes the plot more interesting as it can swing in any spontaneous direction. Here is an example of how roleplay works.
Roleplayer #1: *Alex wakes up in his enclosure in the Central Park Zoo and steps into the sunshine. After a good stretch, he bounds over to the wall to look over into the next pen to see if his best friend, Marty, is awake as well.*
"Hey Marty!" *Alex roars happily,* "You awake?"
Roleplayer #2: *Marty looks up from his breakfast and grins at Alex. Taking one last quick bite, he trots over to the fence to talk to his friend.*
"Hey, Alex," *he chuckles,* "How's it going?"
This is basically how a roleplay works and it can go on for as long as the players want it to and it can be carried out by more than just two roleplayers/characters.
Some more advanced roleplay tips: if you and another roleplayer have privately discussed and planned a roleplay plot and you don't want someone outside of the plan to interrupt the plot, mark your thread title "private". That means only a selected few are allowed to post in that particular thread. Mark it "semi-private" if you don't mind certain people coming in. Note to viewers: if a thread is marked "semi-private", private message the creator of the thread and get their permission to participate before you post.
Questions/comments welcome.
